FAQ's
What is UK medical cannabis?
It’s legal, private, prescription-only treatment for certain long-term conditions. Clinics prescribe flower, oils, or other formats, and everything is grown under strict medical standards — safe, tested, and consistent. None of that “mystery bud in a sandwich bag” energy.
Who can become a medical patient?
Anyone over 18 with a qualifying condition that hasn’t responded well to standard treatments. Chronic pain, anxiety, PTSD, arthritis, migraines — the usual suspects — plus many more conditions that clinics assess on a case-by-case basis. If traditional meds haven’t cut it, there’s a good chance you might be eligible.
How much does it all cost?
Consultations can be anything from free to about £150 depending on the clinic. Flower usually runs around £4–£11 per gram, depending on the product and the clinic. Repeat prescriptions are normally around £20–£30 a month.
(Prices change, so always check the latest info on my site.)
Do I need my GP’s permission?
Nope. A GP summary helps, but you can self-refer. Clinics can request extra info if needed, but you don’t need your GP to approve anything first.
Can I legally drive as a medical cannabis patient?
Yes — as long as you’re not impaired and you’ve got your prescription documents. There’s a full “medical defence” written into UK law. I’ve got a full breakdown of it elsewhere on the site if you want the deep dive.
Is my flower tested and safe?
Yep. Everything in the UK medical space has to meet strict standards like lab testing, hygiene rules, and irradiation. You’re getting pharmaceutical-grade flower, not something grown in someone’s loft next to their pet iguana.
Can I travel abroad with my medication?
Sometimes, but not everywhere. Some countries are cool with medical cannabis, others absolutely are not. Always check the rules before you go, carry your documents, and get a travel letter. Border control doesn’t do “vibes,” so don’t take risks.
Can I choose my own strains?
Most clinics will let you start choosing your own products from around month three, once they’ve seen how you’re getting on. Before that, you can still guide them — if there’s something specific you fancy trying, just tell your specialist and they’ll let you know if it’s suitable.
What’s the difference between medical and street weed?
Pretty much everything. Medical flower is grown to pharmaceutical standards with full lab checks. Street weed is unpredictable — you never know what you’re getting or what it’s been sprayed with.
Can I switch clinics?
Absolutely. There’s no contract, no loyalty card, no “you must stay with us forever.” If service, stock or pricing isn’t working for you, you can move clinics whenever you want.
Do I need to smoke it?
Nope. Smoking isn’t recommended at all. Clinics advise vaping flower for harm reduction, and you can also use oils or capsules depending on what suits you.
Is delivery to my house legal?
Yep. Pharmacies post it straight to your door in discreet packaging. Fully legal, fully traceable, and no awkward post office queues.
What happens if my meds go missing?
Pharmacies investigate and resend if needed. Every clinic has its own process, but you won’t be left without medication.
Can I use my medication in public?
Possession is legal anywhere in the UK as long as you’ve got your prescription. Using it in public is a grey area though, so most patients stick to private spaces to avoid unwanted conversations with Karen from number 42.
Do I need a Cancard?
Hell no. Cancards just confuse everything. You’re a legal medical patient — your prescription is your proof. That’s all you need.
